Each year on the second Sunday in September, people join together in celebrating National Pet Memorial Day, as a day of remembrance to honor pets we have lost. On this day, pet owners honor their pets, both past and present and think about and share with others the important role that their beloved pets have played, and do play, in their lives.
Keep both past and present pets in your mind. One idea that has been shared and is becoming a popular tradition on National Pet Memorial Day, is to plant a tree or a shrub as a living memorial. It’s also great to share a hug, tell a story, post a pet photo on our memorial wall, light a candle, release a wish balloon, donate to a pet charity. Use #NationalPetMemorialDay to post on social media.
